Potential flips, surprises and one massive what-if

Harbor is one of 11 uncommitted five-stars with just over seven weeks to go. While it might be a bit unclear which way he’s leaning, that’s not the case with some of the other potential first-rounders.

Fresh intel continues to suggest that Keon Keeley‘s recruitment remains a two-team battle between Alabama and Ohio State for the nation’s No. 1-ranked edge rusher. The Buckeyes are also right in the thick of things for Damon Wilson and Matayo Uiagalelei (younger brother of Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei). Obviously, landing all three sack artists would be a major coup for Ryan Day and veteran assistant Larry Johnson, but it likely won’t be easy with Nick Saban pushing for Keeley, and Kirby Smart in hot pursuit of Wilson, who just toured UGA for the third time. Uiagalelei, on the other hand, has Oregon and USC on his short list of favorites along with the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes.

LSU is believed to be the leader in the clubhouse for five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks after he watched Brian Kelly pick up a signature win over Saban in Baton Rouge. Ricks is still expected to take official visits to both Alabama and Florida before he announces a commitment on Dec. 23, which marks the final day of the Early Signing Period.

Speaking of the Crimson Tide and Gators, those two along with Auburn continue to jostle for positioning with James Smith and Qua Russaw. It’s looking more and more like the two teammates and good friends will actually sign with the same school, which is pretty rare because oftentimes package deals fall apart at the finish line.

Georgia is also in contact with both Smith and Russaw, and it wouldn’t be completely out of the question for the folks in Athens to add the two war daddy’s to a defensive line haul that will more than likely include fellow uncommitted five-star Samuel M’Pemba, who is viewed pretty much everyone as a heavy UGA lean. The Bulldogs also continue to sniff around Duke Robinson. The nation’s No. 1-ranked tight end per 247Sports joined Kyler Murray and AJ Brown as just the third athlete ever to accept invites to both the Under Armor All-America football game and the Under Armor All-America baseball game.

The final five-star not listed on anyone’s commit list is linebacker Anthony Hillalthough it might not be long before the nation’s top-ranked linebacker announces a commitment to Texas as a flurry of 247Sports’ Crystal Ball picks have come in for the Longhorns after he backed off a commitment to Texas A&M earlier this week.
