EA and DICE have announced that first-person shooter Battlefield 2042 will join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play with the start of Season 3, which is rumored to begin sometime in late November.
As confirmed in a development update, Battlefield 2042 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play with the start of the game’s third season.
Battlefield 2042 coming to Game Pass Ultimate with Season 3
Battlefield 2042’s Alexia Christofi said, “We’re proud of the work that we’ve done over the past 12 months, and so if you haven’t jumped in yet, starting in Season 3, we’ll be introducing Battlefield 2042 into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and making the game available for subscribers with EA Access.”
A specific date hasn’t been mentioned for when Battlefield 2042 will join Game Pass Ultimate, but it’s rumored that Season 3 will begin later this month, so we should see it drop into both subscription services fairly soon.
Season 3 will also overhaul Battlefield 2042’s specialists. According to DICE, an update during the later half of Season 3 in 2023 will reintroduce classes to the first-person shooter and give specialists “defined roles that see them gain access to a specialized set of gadgets and equipment that best suit their purpose on the Battlefield.” Once the update drops, you can expect to play as Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon roles. Two more map reworks will also be introduced during Season 3. Manifest will be receiving an update, and Breakaway is set to be “massively overhauled.”
