2024 Ford Mustang V-8 Exhaust Note Video Teaser

We’re just two weeks away from a brand-new Mustang, folks. On September 14, Ford plans to reveal the S650-generation ‘Stang at the Detroit Auto Show. In an effort to drum up hype, the company has released a short sound clip showing off the car’s V-8 exhaust note. You’re gonna want to take a listen.

The 16-second clip, published on Twitter, treats us to a start-up and a few revs before playing a short burnout and an acceleration run. The exhaust note sounds a lot like the current Mustang’s 5.0-liter V-8, if we’re being honest. Not that that’s a bad thing.

The familiar sound makes sense. While Ford has yet to confirm powertrain offerings, all reports indicate the 2024 Mustang will receive carry-over engine options from the current car. That means a naturally aspirated V-8 and a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost inline-four. Power figures are still up in the air, but the V-8 is expected to make roughly 500 hp.

Purists will be happy to know that buyers will still have a choice between a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Previous rumors suggested the possibility of all-wheel drive, but the latest out of Detroit suggests that, like all previous Mustangs, power will be going solely to the rear wheels.
